Yes, I almost wet myself when I saw a Kotaku Facebook post saying that 700 #1 Marvel issues were available for free on Comixology. I threw down my Xbox 360 controller very dramatically and switched to my Ipad, where I hungrily......could not download any comics????
Of course, when a promotion like this happens, the website is going to go down. Today, Comixology said they knew there would be huge traffic at their site, but that they were not prepared for the onslaught. I think they are liars. I doubt they did very much to prepare. It was all just a stunt to promote traffic to their site. They got it. Now, instead of people wanting to use their site, they will have people like me PISSED at them.
As of today they have suspended the promotion but you can fill in a form on their site that will inform when they are better prepared to go through with their JOB and offer it again. Days from now? weeks? months?
I guess they had to do that because this moronic attempt at giving people free stuff was in danger of keeping people that PAY for their comics offline on Wednesday! What a joke.

PS. You will have much better luck on the Comixology Ipad app. I was able to purchase the titles, but unable to download, so I THINK those titles SHOULD be on my account when all this snafu blows over.
PSS. And you want to know WHY so many people wanted those comics? Because $4 for a digital comic is a ripoff. It's just welfare for comic stores. We should be paying about half price for digital versions of print comics.
