Where Are The Vita Commercials?

So it's 3 days before launch, and I have only just now seen my first Playstation Vita TV commercial. I was listening to the Official Playstation Blog Podcast yesterday and I think they said about $15 million was being spent on marketing for the Vita. Where is it? Unless you are a gamer, you have no idea what the Vita IS, much less when it's coming out. They should have started all the marketing a year ago to build up excitement. Sadly, the people on the podcast seemed really fired up about the Vita. Even though I am buying one, I would not at all be surprised if it totally bombs.

I also think that the limited edition week early bundle was a complete joke. Why couldn't I have got my regular wi-fi edition last week? I understand, it's about money. But why should dumb people get theirs first?

Vita Launch Games Part 9

Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition
Price: $39.99

My Thoughts: I would buy this game if it was $10 cheaper since I like tennis. But at $40 for a game I could purchase for console for $10-$20, this is a definite no sale. It looks good. It looks fun, but again, not at this price.

My Interest Level: High at $20, Nil at $40.

Wipeout 2048
Price: $29.99

My Thoughts: Looks completely awesome. I am absolutely all over this title on launch day. Reminds me of Full Auto/Burnout crossed with Star Wars podracing. I love the sense of speed and thrills this game exhibits.

My Interest Level: A must buy.

Vita Launch Titles Part 8

Touch My Katamari
Price: $29.99

My Thoughts: I remember when the first PS2 Katamari came out ages ago and how original it was. I don't think the US market had a clue that it would turn it to be the sleeper hit that it became. I bought it back in 2004 and funnily enough have NEVER played it! I also have an Xbox 360 Katamari game, and have never played it. Which begs the question why I would buy this Vita version? Answer? Because the games for Vita that look interesting are few and far between. At least this game looks like fun. Who knows, maybe I could play the Katamari games in reverse order? And I like the price. Graphics look about the same as other console versions, but this series has always been style over substance when it comes to the graphics department.

My Interest Level: Some. A maybe-buy title

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Price: $39.99

My Thoughts: I bought Marvel vs Capcom 3 for the Xbox 360 on its release date and traded it into Gamestop the next day. I hated it. The way the tag team situation was set up, I felt like I was never actually fighting. There was so much frenetic motion and characters flipping and flying everywhere that I felt more like I was watching a Final Fantasy 13 non-game. Absolutely hated it. There is no chance in Hell that I would ever buy this game. EVER.

My Interest Level: Utter bottom less pits of Hell no chance infinite non-starter vomit revulsion

Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Price: $49.99

My Thoughts: First up.....$50!!! FIFTY FUCKING DOLLARS!!! FIFTY FUCKING DOLLARS for a PORTABLE game! Fuck you Sony! And while I'm at it, FUCK YOU Capcom! If you pay $50 for this game, you are just plain dumb. The only reason I am buying it is that when it was first announced I ordered it from Best Buy while it was still listed as $39.99. Did the same with Resident Evil Revelations for the 3DS. I've only played the first Uncharted and really enjoyed it. It has crossed my mind to cancel my pre-order for this game since I've yet to play the other two games, but what the fuck, I'm probably gonna buy it, since its supposed to be THE game to get, at least out of these lackluster launch titles. All hate aside, looks like a good game.

My Interest Level: I have already pre-ordered this game.

Vita Launch Games Part 7

Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen
Price: $39.99

My Thoughts: Graphics don't really blow me away, but I love stealth games.....well, I love GOOD stealth games. I have never heard of this series. Apparently, some of the games have been released in Europe but not here in the States. This title also seems to be the most thoroughly Japanese of all the releases, so I'm most likely gonna pick it up.

My Interest Level: High, most likely a game I'm going to pick up on launch day.

Super Stardust Delta
Price: Unknown (PSN Download Only)

My Thoughts: Asteroids shooter crossed with Geometry Wars. Looks good but I already own the PS3 version, which only costs $10. It also costs the same for the PSP version. No way I'm buying this game.

My Interest Level: Positively Zilch

Tales of Space: Mutant Blobs
Price: Unknown (PSN Download Only)

My Thoughts: Looks like a fun platformer. PS3 version has been available for a while for $15 but I never picked it up. So I doubt I'll pick this version up either. I just have a hard time thinking this title will be very long or that I'll get any bang for my hard earned buck. I'd rather buy a full-length game for the Vita....well, that is, IF I can find a game that interests me!

My Interest Level: Very little. Definitely a not buy until I see how much it costs.

Vita Launch Games Part 6

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
Price: $39.99

My Thoughts: From what little screen images I've seen, the game looks beautiful, but seeing as how I just bought Ninja Gaiden Sigma PS3 USED for $10 from Gamestop a week and have yet to play it, don't really see any need to buy the Vita port of the game. Plus I also have the sequel on 360 and the DS Gaiden game. So again, no point in buying this.

My Interest Level: Zilch

Plants vs. Zombies
Price: Unknown (PSN Download)

My Thoughts: Looks fun, but AGAIN, its already available on every console, PC,  and portable there is, lowest price being around $10. This game is at oversaturation point. I already have it on PC. No point in buying this. I would think that everyone that likes this game or was interested in playing it has bought it already. I expect it to be a poor seller. Or maybe I'm crazy. The trailer below is just the regular PC version. I could not find any of the Vita game.

My Interest Level: Below Zilch

Rayman Origins
Price: $39.99

My Thoughts: Wow, I am really getting bored of saying this: This game is already out for consoles. You can pick it up for about $30. It is an eyepoppingly gorgeous semi-cartoon that needs to be seen on a big screen to really appreciate. So why buy this version? Can't think of a reason, unless the Vita is the only game system you have.

Interest Level: High for the game, Zero for the Vita version

Vita Launch Games Part 5

Lumines Electronic Symphony
Price: $39.99

My Thoughts: Well, I have two Lumines games already, one on PSP and one on 360, so why would I want this? It looks like the same old same old. Looks like it's much easier to play without using the touch functions. I wouldn't mind buying this game, but for $40? I don't think so. Mark it down to around $15, then you have my attention. This seems more like a downloadable game instead of a box release.

My Interest Level: Zero at this price

Michael Jackson: The Experience
Price: $39.99

My thoughts: ummmm, not much. This game already came out on every other system and can be had for less than $10 on DS or PSP. Not, I repeat, NOT a dancing game. This is a rhythm game where you have to touch the screen with certain motions and timing to the music. Who would be dumb enought to buy this game when you can get it for $30 cheaper RIGHT NOW?  And besides, who is getting the money from this game? His disgusting family? His fake children? Why are we even having to deal with Michael Jackson's money making schemes after he's dead.

My Interest Level: Below the nadir of the most negative

Modnation Racers: Road Trip
Price: $29.99

My Thoughts: This game actually looks pretty cool. I love the fact that you can design your own tracks and can interact during creation with the touch functions. PLUS, it's only $30. You know, to me, ALL lauch games for every system should be discounted since the system and games are unproven. I would be all for buying this game, except that I am not sure about the car handling. I remember I played the original Modnation Racers demo on my PS3, and I HATED the car handling. It felt like driving a brick. The demo told me all I needed to know. If you don't like the car physics in a driving game, it's pretty useless to play it. Maybe if they put up a demo of this game on PSN, I would be able to make a better decision on buying it.

My Interest Level: Some, but probably almost zero chance of buying it until I try the demo.

Vita Launch Games Part 4

Hot Shots Golf: World International
Price: $29.99

My thoughts: Hmm. Well, I have Hot Shots Golf Out of Bounds on PS3. Have never played it in 4 years. I have Pangya Golf on PSP. Still working on finishing it. I have Super Swing Golf 1&2 on Wii. Have never never completed the first game, much less the 2nd. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't need another golf game, portable or console. Also, you can play Hot Shots on your PSP for $10. Even so, this Vita game looks like fun, and I wouldn't mind having it. I haven't played any of those other golf games online. The animations for the Vita game are eerily human-like, maybe a little TOO human-like.

My Interest Level: Some, but again, don't really need another golf game.

Hustle Kings (PSN Download)
Price: Unknown

My Thoughts: I already have this game on my PS3. If you buy it on PSN its only $9.99. So why would I want it on my Vita? It looks beautiful, but the touch screen controls seem like a hassle. Why go thru all those motions when it's so much simpler just to use sticks and buttons. Why would I buy this game twice, ESPECIALLY if the Vita version is going to cost more than the PS3 version.  If it's $10 I would think about it. $15? NO WAY.

My Interest Level: Almost Zero, but could change according to price of the game.

Little Deviants
Price $39.99

My Thoughts: This game looks like fun. A bunch of no thought mini games like Wario Ware or Rabbids. But is it worth $40? Probably not. If it was $30 I would probably buy it. It comes in the Limited Edition Vita bundle as well if you're into 3G and/or you want to get your Vita a week early, which I'm not. There is a Little Deviants Official website: http://little-deviants.com/

My Interest Level: High, but not for this price.
