Nintendo Wii U Launch Titles Part 1

Well, it's about a month away from the Nintendo Wii U launch (Midnight Nov. 18 for my Gamestop), and I figured I'd just start taking a look at the games coming out for the system launch week via each game's video trailers. Actually, some titles are coming out the week before the console comes out, much like what happened with the Playstation Vita launch. I'll probably do about 2 launch titles each blog entry. I'll go by order of popularity according to Amazon.com.

First up of course is "New" Super Mario Bros. U. Well, what can I say about this game. It's the best-selling title for the Wii U on Amazon right now and I doubt anyone is shocked by that. Most people are probably buying the Wii U just to play Nintendo's first party franchises. Me, I could care less about Nintendo first party titles. That's coming from a person that quit Super Mario Bros. on my Nintendo DS because the gameplay was so frickin annoying. Plus, it was the same crap I had played in 1985 on the NES. Nintendo is kinda like DC and Marvel Comics. They live off old properties and find themselves at a loss to do anything creative. They just regurgitate the same shit over and over again.

Still, this game looks like fun. From what I can tell on the trailer, it looks like 4 people can play with the old Wii controllers while one person can help the players on the tablet by creating platforms and such. So does that mean FIVE players can play the game at the same time?

The game looks really pretty as well. But again, the gameplay looks like the same old same old.

Chance of Me Buying New Super Mario Bros.U : 15%

Did someone say zombie apocalypse? This game looks interesting even though the whole post vampire fad replacement is wearing thin. Actually, the reason this is going to be the only 100% going to buy game for me is that it is one of the few Wii U exclusives that looks like a good game. It also seems to use the tablet in innovative ways. And just think how cool will it be to get home at midnight on launch night and play something scary in the dark!

Chance of me buying ZombiU at the midnight launch: 100%
