Just Met a Girl Named Catherine

Just got home with Catherine in tow. I bought the Xbox 360 version because after the PSN debacle I've pretty much written off the PS3. Whatever games come out this generation, I'm going to buy them on 360 unless they are PS3 exclusives. There's just too much bad blood with Sony right now. Supposedly, the anime scenes in Catherine look better on PS3 but the gameplay portions are the same. You can check out this video to judge for yourselves:

I pre-ordered the standard version which comes with an artbook and a cd containing music from the game. The cd is in a plastic sleeve at the back of the artbook:

And here's a pic of the open game box and game disc:

There's also a deluxe version for $20 more which in addition to the soundtrack and art book, includes a shirt, boxer briefs, and a pillow case, all enclosed in a pizza box from the game

You can watch the official Atlus unboxing of the Deluxe version in the video below:

The demo is still available on PSN and Xbox Live as far as I know. I played it and was intrigued without being impressed, so I'm very interested to see how this game goes. I've been very curious about it ever since it was announced and pre-ordered not even really knowing what the game was about. So I'm very excited about finally getting to play it. The numbers on Amazon look pretty good for such a niche title. As of right now on game day release, the Amazon videogame bestseller positions for the various Catherine versions are:

#11--Catherine Standard Edition (PS3)
#17-- Deluxe "Love is Over" Edition (PS3)
#42-- Standard (360)
#48--Deluxe (360)
#294-- Alternate box art (PS3)
#436--Alt (360)

Yep, that's right, there are alternate standard covers for the 360 and PS3 for markets that wanted a less racy cover, like Walmart and Target. I wonder if they might be collector's items someday. Obviously, the alternate covers are not selling so well at Amazon, and I just don't see casual gamers picking this up at Walmart, unless its some podunk hick that thinks it's some kind of porn game. They pretty much just took the original art and just blew up Catherine/Katherine's head to take up almost the entire cover. I wonder if there are some hardcore gamers out there that will buy all four games just to have all the boxart? Here are the alternate covers:
